Thanksgiving Dinner for the Gavin Flock

I prepared a special treat for my chickens on Thanksgiving Day. Hard boiled eggs, bacon, and sliced apples.  They usually get all the scraps from the dinner table, but on Thanksgiving there was a much better variety of goodies.  The bacon was the big attraction, then the hard boiled eggs, and the apples were avoided until there was nothing better. Yep, just like kids!

Well, not really… it was left-over scrap from the stuffing!

    Mmm, bacon 🙂

That was very thoughtful of you.

    I guess I didn’t know chickens ate hard boiled eggs…seems ironic. 🙂

Maybe if you turned the apples into apple pie the chickens would go for it.

I think it is so cool that you give them a special meal on thanksgiving – and yes you’re right they are so like kids. My Chevvy (The Demented Fox Terrier) is a big kid and also like my kids, knows exactly what look to use to get what she wants.

Yum! Your chickens will be looking for Thanksgiving dinner every day…but maybe for the apples. Hugs
