Make a Halter from a Lead Rope

If you’ve ever tried to make a halter from a lead rope for an immediate situation, then you know it’s not that easy. I’ve been caught without a halter many times when a horse got loose and although I managed to make a functional make-shift halter, it was far from impressive. When I saw Jim Craig in the movie The Man from Snowy River make a halter from rope I was amazed, I’ve watched that scene over and over trying to figure out how he did it and I’m still at a loss. Maybe someday, until then, I’m using this handy technique shown in the video below, and quite honestly I’m thrilled with it!

This video isn’t that great, the cowboy is definitely not Jim Craig and he has zero public speaking skills, but he can darn sure make a better halter out of a lead rope than me. It’s quick, easy, and the best part is I can do it… and so can you!

Jim Craig, in The Man from Snowy River… he didn’t just make halters from a lead rope… remember this famous scene?
