Make a Chicken Coop Roof from Aluminum Cans

Here’s a great way to put all those empty soda cans to good use… or a valid reason to drink more beer! If you don’t already know, the decision to keep chickens be be an expensive one if you’re starting from scratch. The coop, fencing, drinkers, feeders, nest boxes, and the list goes on and on! When it’s all said and done, they say the first egg costs $700 or more, very true. That’s why it’s so important to be creative in your set-up. Let’s face it, $700 buys a lot of store bought eggs… without all the work.

I always suggest looking for used materials, look for suitable housing such as a dog house that can be converted. Check out Craigslist for building materials, there’s even free stuff out there that people throw away on garbage day. Grab it! You’re not going to make money keeping chickens, the trick is to be thrifty so you at least break even.

Here’s another do it yourself tip for all you handy guys out there for roofing or siding a chicken coop… cool!
