DYI Fly Trap and Attractant Recipe

I hate flies! I have been using the Rescue reusable fly traps and then every week I’m running to the feed store to buy more attractant. It works, but it can get expensive since it only takes a few days before it’s full of dead smelly flies. Personally, when it stinks I want to throw it away and just buy more, and this can get spendy, so….

Why not make your own fly attractant? Here’s a DYI alternative to store bought fly traps and attractants. Does it work? Don’t know! I’m trying it tomorrow! If you want to give it a whirl too, here’s the recipe.

Fly Attractant:
3 cups of water
1/3 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of white vinegar

Mix all ingredients together until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Make or Buy a Fly Trap:

<– Reusable fly traps are available at local feed stores for about $7 bucks such as the one pictured left. Or you can make your own by simply using an empty plastic milk container. Poke some holes in the jug big enough for the flies to crawl in, put in the attractant and hang or place it in the sun where flies are a problem. You can also use a coffee can with a plastic lid,  just poke small holes in the lid. Either, or, the flies crawl in and can’t find their way out, then drown in the attractant. Yahoo!
