Pigeons, they’re dirty & hang around everywhere I don’t want them… but I can’t help it, I like them. They are social, smart, and if you take the time to really look at them, pretty!

They’re persistent that’s for sure, I’ve had a flock of about 12 here at the ranch for 10 years. I never feed them, but obviously whatever bit of scrap feed they’ve found in the past is worth hanging around for. I don’t free feed my chickens because of them, all the hens go to the coop at night where they are fed and confined for the night.

Sometimes a pigeon will lay an egg in the chicken nest boxes, and on occasion I’ve seen one in particular roost with the same two hens. I’ve given up battling the pigeons, they live here and that’s that. After all, they have pink feet, gotta love anything with pink feet right?

  1. I don’t ever see pigeons around here. We have lots of doves though. kind of the same. Those in your tree are really pretty.

As much as I hate their poop all over my car, I still got to like them in a way… I even take the odd photo of the darn things…

Thank you. I realize you are really digging to find ways to like pigeons but I do like them. They are pretty and I’ve had two injured ones and they don’t bite or cause any harm. And yes they have pink feet.
