A Kitty for Dad

It’s amazing what one cat can do. My Dad is 88 years old, lives alone, and has very little to get excited about. He was lonely, borderline depressed, and any surprises within the confines of his home were few.

I didn’t think bringing him a pet was a very good idea, considering caring for himself was already a challenge… but I did it anyway.  Sunday I brought him a cat from the humane society and took on the responsibility of daily trips to Dad’s to care for it.

The kitty has a name now… Sam, and what a difference he has made in Dad’s life. Sam is demanding, curious, playful, and loving. A combination that has  brought a ray of sunshine to warm an old man’s heart.

Sam was without love, and Dad was without purpose, together they have both.
