  1. We sandwiched hardware cloth between the floor joists and subfloor of our coop and have had no problems with critter gnawing their way into the coop from underneath or outside. We also used hardware cloth as a skirting around the coop and buried the lower half to keep creatures from taking up residence under the coop. (Our neighboring chicken keepers call our hen house The Robocoop!)
